As most of you know I DJ Weddings every weekend.
I’ve been DJing weddings every weekend since 2000.
But as most of my Brides know, I’m less a DJ and more a coordinator.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a DJ and I can Emcee and spin with the best of them and have done just that since the 80’s.
My real work isn’t in the songs I play or even when I play them.
It’s how I play them.
Timing is great and even essential but knowing the guests, the wedding party, the family and the Bride and Groom are just as important.
I have DJd for the entire range of Brides from the “play whatever you want, we trust you” to the “here’s a list, play them in this order, play nothing but this order and selection and don’t say or play a word or song otherwise!”
If you’re a Bride and are considering asking me to DJ your wedding but think you fall outside of this range - I dare you!
LOL
Seriously, I love the challenge and I love doing WHATEVER it takes to make you look like a freaking genius when the night is over.
The biggest tip and praise I can get is not from the Bride or from anybody at all, in fact.
I love overhearing the Bride’s guests and family tell her the night was amazing.
Y’all have heard of the MTV show, “Sweet Sixteen”?
I want my Brides to feel the same way when their Weddings are over:
“Try and top THAT!”
On the other hand, that’s not ALWAYS the case.
Some Brides want Garden Parties.
I call them that because that’s what they feel like.
It’s a big social event and folks come from miles around to chat, socialize and love the Bride.
They love the music but don’t care about dancing, it’s all about family and friends.
You know the song:
“I went to a Garden Party, to get together with my old friends…”
I hope that’s stuck in your head too for the rest of the day!
Anywho, I’d like to talk about my adventures in DJing and share photos with y’all soon enough.
I’m going to start a new category and try to get on here more and talk about this more.
My friends are always telling me I should write a book sharing all my experiences cuz I usually have great stories and I always get the Best Danged Brides.
I’m just blessed that way I guess.
I’d talk about all my events but I really only do about ten “non-weddings” a year and that’s just around this time of year when Corporate events become the rule.
But even then, I’ve got Brides and Grooms wanting to get married and if they want to, I want to DJ their weddings too!
In fact, this is the BEST time, I feel, to get married.
Not only is the date easy for Grooms to remember (easier - sorry!) but it’s also a time for family, when they are all gathering in town and it’s less expensive on travel, venues, etc.
Anywho, I’ll get to all that later.
For now:
Merry Christmas (Yes - I said Christmas - none of this “holiday” junk) and Congratulations not just to the Brides and their new husbands that I’ve DJd but to all the Christmas Brides this year.
And don’t forget to visit the Wedding Page for recommendations and the like.

REJOICE!!!
