Porter For President?

Feb24
2006
Written by Porter

And why not?
Everybody knows where I stand on issues.
I’m not “wishy washy”.
I have no interest in financial gain.
In fact, here’s what I can guarantee I’ll get done:

This is long as I keep adding to it in response to emails.

Severly cut the budget, nearly 50%.
Reduce the salaries of gov’t employees, senators, congressman and other employess to no more than 1/4 of the Presidential salary.
Increase the military salaries.
Eliminate pensions unless gov’t employees have retired after 24(at least) years of full employement.
Representatives are not elligible unless their combined service (which would come to more than 70 “partial” years) equals 24 years.
I would recall all US troops (Once Iraq and Pakistan are forced to take care of themselves) and secure our own borders with American troops.
I would also restore Israel to her 1948 borders and secure them with her.
Eliminate the Department of Education.
Eliminate all outsourcing of American jobs.
Increase and put in place taxes on imports making it more expensive to import than to produce here in the Country.
Use the Military to remove all illegal and “undocumented” foreign nationals.
Kick out the U.N. and relinquish our membership.
Eliminate all foreign aid that is not “conditional”.
Make paid lobbyists illegal.
Make it illegal for any representative to benefit in anyway from his elective position other than his paid salary.
CAP governmental salaries and restrict increases to citizen vote.
Eliminate income tax and increase sales taxes and usage fees, etc.
Cut social programs, welfare, etc and to set conditions to what is left.
End Social Security but grandfather those over a certain age into the remaining program.
Allow tax free retirement accounts and healthcare accounts.

That list is all I can think of at the moment (Check back as I’ll be adding things as I think of them) and I’ll add to it later but it’s pretty representative of what I’ll do.
I’d make generous use (within the law) of Executive orders.
Prez. Bush has made nearly 200 of them to date and only two in history (one being Bill Clinton’s in ’96) have been defeated.

So, should I run?

UPDATE 01:

So I’m getting tons of responses thank you very much.
Maybe I should run!

Let me explain the whole cut the budget and eliminate income taxes yet still provide services and increase military spending and salaries.
The more we require the Gov’t to do for us, such as pork projects, subsidies and social programs, the more the gov’t requires from us to pay for these programs.
So if we only require the Gov’t to do the backbone stuff like defend, regulate (minimally) and support us with infrastructure then we’ll have to pay less for this stripped down Constitutional Government.
If we cut income taxes but institute a flat sales tax and usage fees then our infrastuctures will be paid for as they are used.
We only pay for what we support then what we pay gets reduced down to the minimum.
Private corporations make enough to pay for exploration, scientific advancement and research.
We already pay too much for college and universities and private education is far superior to the public education system (which I’ll dismantle).
Our Gov’t officials don’t need to get rich in the service of our Country.
Which is why I’ll make paid lobbyists a thing of the past.
Our representatives are there to represent you and I and not the giant wallets of tiny Special intrests.
And we don’t need to support one, two and three term representatives for the rest of their lives with monthly retirement payments of more than you and I will make in a year.
I’m guaranteed not to be popular with the liberals but I’m there to represent the best interests of the Country, of ALL Americans and doing what I feel is best.
That’s what the President is elected to do.
He cannot make everybody happy all of the time and he’s going to make some people very unhappy at one time.
But like parents and their children, the parents make decisions and choices based on what they know to be in the best intrests of their children and they know that in the long run, when their children grow up, they’ll thank them for those choices.
I’m just convinced that we know how to spend our money better than the Gov’t and that we should be allowed to keep our hard earned cash (and save it unpenalized) and only give it to the Gov’t when we decide we support something.

My ideas and goals are so well defined and so absolute that I’m sure I’ll never get into office.
The left would hate me and the right would be too afraid of the left to hire a man like me for President.

We need a leader (and representatives) who are not career politicians.
Men and women who are true representatives with goals and plans to achieve them.

UPDATE 02:

So I’ve been told I won’t be very popular and that I should not expect to accomplish any of my goals.
Why not?
What politician dares to add his name to the fight against a law that reduces his pay and cuts taxes and the budget?
How is he going to explain that to the average Joe American who can’t pay his heating bill or afford healthcare?
The question also asked how the Representatives could afford to travel, do their jobs and whatnot if I cut their pay and benefits.
Easy, I guarantee you that once the Reps get it into their thick skulls that they are only going to get paid to do their jobs and that Americans are no longer going to tolerate their crap lollygagging in the office for 120 days to pass pork barrel crap and charge Americans for 365 days of fishing and hunting, they’ll realize that it only takes 1 day to do what they used to take 120 to do.
Travel?
Why?
They can telecommute, video conference and have no need to go overseas.
That is what we have Ambassadors and other officials for.
When these guys realise that they are there to focus, do their jobs and then get back to their real life jobs inorder to pay the bills like you and I, they’ll get the jobs done, quickly and get back to business.
As for me not being popular…
Who cares?
I’m not a career politician, I’m there for a few years to get the job done then get out.
If I get kicked out of office, I simply go back to flippin burgers at McDees, my life will not end.
I don’t have ranches and offshore accounts that need to be paid for.
I don’t care about being popular with other politicians.
And you *KNOW* that no Senator or Congressman dare vote against saving the American 50% of his taxes or more; talk about looking the guy who voted for you in the eye and saying, “I’ll take your money and spend it on my house and kids and don’t you dare take it back!”

I should note that in order for you to restore the borders of Israel to the 1948 borders you would actually have to be president of the world and not just of the USA. 🙂

I’ve always heard the American President referred to as the Leader of the Free World!
Besides, The West isn’t going to oppose (well, except the limp-wristed leftist liberals) restoring the Land God gave to His children.
The rag-head nut who dares fire upon an American troop defending Israeli borders hates even his own people, knowing that he just asked us to turn his homeland into a glass parking lot!
I won’t mince words when I speak to the freshly kicked out UN, Nato and the World.
    It will be very clear.
The US will not engage in war, we will not tolerate terrorism.
For every single tiny action there will be a final and complete reaction.
    I’ll call Tancredo.
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

I have no desire to hurt innocent people in wars, battles or conflicts.
If American citizens had some militant faction that was causing a superior power to destroy her, we’d eventually get the hint and take care of that militan faction ourselves.
In the Marine Corps, the entire platoon got punished when one guy screwed up.
Eventually, we got the hint that none of us were individuals, we were a team, a group and responsible for each other.
If Arabia, and Africa grew to realize that every time one of their religious nuts, their fellow citizens bombed a train, building, shopping mall or what not, we took out a military compound, a defense ministry, some other strategic target, they would eventually get the hint and start to take care of their own.
The rest of the West would eventually abandon the FRnech limp wrist way of handling this crap and we would start to be real adults on the scene.

Restoring Israel would be the first step in retraining these old dogs new tricks.
Too radical or exactly what we need?
